DrainEx™ Rapid Exchange Drainage Catheter r4 Vascular’s DrainEx™ drainage catheter is a kink–resistant polyurethane catheter with a patent pending rapid exchange lumen, and a built–in suture cutting cleat that enables a single clinician to lock the catheter without needing a second set of hands. The catheter allows the placing doctor access to a protected lumen, which is always available for a rapid wire exchange if needed. Unfortunately sometimes drainage catheters fail because of occlusion. Replacement procedures routinely take longer to exchange out and often need a more invasive replacement catheter. With hospital cost savings in mind, r4 has added an exchange lumen that allows for quick exchange of theses failed catheters. This exchange lumen potentially saves the patient from an extra procedure, and offers the provider significant total procedural cost savings. DrainEx catheters remove the need for upsizing, and allows for a much quicker replacement time. Less invasive is a universal goal of physicians. r4 Vascular’s DrainEx Catheter is the only rapid exchange drainage catheter, and is easy to place by a single clinician. The catheter includes a locking mechanism that will prevent the patient from accidentally unlocking the device.
